When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password (we never store your password in readable form). When you use the Service, we store your notification preferences, subscription status, and session data (IP address and browser type, for security). We do not collect payment card details — all payments are processed by PayPal, and we only store the PayPal subscription and transaction identifiers needed to manage your plan.
We process your data to provide the Service (account management, signal delivery, email notifications), to manage billing through PayPal, and to protect against fraud and abuse. The legal basis under UK GDPR is contract performance (delivering the service you signed up for) and legitimate interest (security, fraud prevention, and service improvement).
If you sign up for Donkey Watch or create an account with daily emails enabled, we send you a daily results summary. You can disable this at any time from your dashboard or by clicking the unsubscribe link in any email. We may also send essential service emails (account verification, password resets, billing confirmations) which are not marketing and cannot be opted out of while your account is active.
We use a single session cookie (dr_session) to keep you logged in. It is HTTP-only, secure, and strictly necessary for the Service to function. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics cookies, or any third-party advertising cookies.
We share data only with the minimum third parties required to operate the Service:
PayPal — processes subscription payments. Your email is shared with PayPal when you subscribe to a paid plan. PayPal's privacy policy applies to their handling of your data.
SMTP provider — delivers transactional and daily emails on our behalf. Your email address is shared for delivery purposes only.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties.
Account data is retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data is deactivated within 24 hours and permanently purged within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g. billing records for tax purposes, retained for up to 7 years). Session data is automatically deleted when sessions expire.
You have the right to access your personal data, correct inaccurate data, request deletion (subject to legal retention requirements), restrict or object to processing, and request data portability. You can exercise most of these from your dashboard (download data, delete account), or by emailing hello@donkeyradar.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
All connections to the Service use HTTPS encryption. Passwords are hashed using Argon2id (an industry-standard one-way algorithm). Session tokens are cryptographically random. Database access is restricted to the application server. We follow the principle of collecting only the minimum data necessary to provide the Service.
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via email or a prominent notice on the site. The "last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
